2A- Bug List
- When someone with more than 10 items goes in front of me in the express lane of Publix when I am in a hurry to attend a Christmas eve party.
- Why: People can tend to be selfish, which causes them not to pay attention to rules and those around them.
- When your group mates do the bare minimum on the assignment.
- Why: People just want to get work over with instead of taking the effort to do a good job
- When you work at an event at the O’Connell Center, but they won’t allow you to park in the orange garage next to the Dome during certain events.
- Why: There are too many employees to have reserved parking for them and the guests attending the show
- Having bumper to bumper traffic all hours of the day in Orlando making basic errands a whole day adventure.
- Why: Orlando is a tourist hub where the only ideal way to get around is in cars
- I graduate on May 1st, which means I need to find a job that pays me enough to fund my basic necessities. This has become harder than I thought because a lot of companies do not pay entry level employees as much as they should.
- Why: I still wonder why, but I understand that there are millions of other recent graduates looking for jobs at the same time, which makes the competition higher and employers do not want to spend a lot of money on an individual that doesn’t have much experience if they don’t have to.
- Hate when you tell yourself in the morning that you will go to the gym, but a million things tend to pop up and take the time away from certain activities.
- Why: This happens when you do not plan out your day and follow a schedule that allows you to fit everything into your day
- When you decide to apply to be a Postmates driver in Orlando because the maps of the city shows that it is high demand, but when you begin to drive it becomes impossible to find a delivery.
- Why: Many other people probably have the same idea, which causes there to be less deliveries available
- When you are Ubering to your friends house with headphones to avoid conversation with the driver, but they keep on trying to start conversations
- Why: Drivers are just trying to help their ratings and potentially receive a good tip in the end
- When your bank JP Morgan Chase charges me a $64 overdraft fee for being negative only $3
- Why: Banks have their Terms & Conditions about fees, so it is upto the customer to read into them, so they don’t catch you off guard
- When I have to meet my father in Orlando and I overslept and now I am 2 hours late
- Why: I am a heavy sleeper and went to bed later than I usually do
- When I am in a hurry to get somewhere and the driver in front of me in the right lane does not turn right even though there are no cars coming
- Why: The driver either does not know that they can go or do not feel comfortable making the turn without a green light
- When I have to log into multiple apps/website and remember different usernames/passwords to see my finances
- Why: Each company has their own Terms & Conditions and Privacy agreements to make sure that information is safe
- When I am the first one back home and park in the driveway. Then everyone else gets home and blocks me in so when I am gonna go out later in the day I have to move everyones car then take mine out and repark the other cars.
- Why: I park in the driveway instead of parking on the street where I won’t be blocked in because a year ago someone hit and run my car when it was parked on the street
- When you hold out on getting gas for one more day and the price ends up increasing when you decide to finally get some
- Why: Gas prices are always fluctuating and there is no guarantee the price continues the trend
- It bugs me when I think I am getting close to paying off my credit card but I didn’t take into account interest charges
- Why: This is how banks make their money and is the trade off for getting to use their cards and services
- I go out of my way to help others but when I need help the same energy is not reciprocated
- Why: Not everyone will be there for you like you are for the them and will take advantage of that
- When I go to the grocery store for specific things and they do not have it so I end up with random things instead
- Why: I need food so rather than coming back empty handed I grab things that I think I would like instead of going to another store and hoping they have what I want
- When I leave my house earlier than usual to get to campus for something important but the RTS bus is running late so it makes me late
- Why: Drivers all drive differently and there are also other factors that have to be taken into account such as traffic, driving conditions, and people getting in and out of the bus
- When I go to a theme park and have a limited amount of time left and the wait time says its only 10 minutes but ends up being longer and I am not able to get on all the rides I wanted to get on
- Why: Everyone at the theme park has the same mentality meaning more people in the lines as well as wait times only being estimates
- When I make plans to go to the beach but the Florida weather keeps changing, so you end up not being able to go because you are cold
- Why: Florida weather is always unpredictable
I found this assignment difficult and interesting at the same time because it makes you think of everything in a bigger picture. This made the assignment a bit difficult because you had to think of a greater reason why things happen rather than just why you think things happen. It made me realize that many things seem to bug me, but I never actually write them down and think of why they seem to bother me.
This was a very interesting list of bugs. You have a variety of situations and emotions, which goes to show how good you are at critical analysis.
ReplyDeleteI feel like some of the weaker analyses on the list were the ones where you stopped at just the bigger picture instead of going into how your own actions or the actions of individuals play into what bugs you. Contrast, for instance, your honesty in #6 and #10 with #5 and #8, which are both still honest and real and valid, but are more shallow in their lack of description on how presuppositions lead to you being bugged.
This post also just made me realize how my post misunderstood the directions, and instead of answering why the bugs exist, it's answering why they bug me...
DeleteHey Natasha!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, I related to so many of the bugs that you talked about. I work on campus too and it is so frustrating to not be able to park to get to work, I either have to take the bus or take my chances on parking in the Reitz. Your bug at number 16 was also way too real and it’s sad that some people just want to take advantage of other people’s desire to be good and helpful.
I agree with your reflection too. This assignment was a little weird and difficult because sometimes it’s hard to put a finger on why certain things bug you and how those might have been created in the first place.

Hi Natasha,
ReplyDeleteYour list of bugs was very relatable for me because many of the same issues bother me. I especially relate with your bug of group members not putting in their fair share of the work. In my experience, this often happens with online classes as there is no face to face contact. Your reflection is very similar to mine as I also found the assignment weird and thought-provoking.
