16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways I think my human capital is unique:

1) I enjoy communicating with people. I like to solve issues straight on rather than beating around the bush. If I notice that people are upset or feel as though they are not voicing their opinions much I like to take them aside and let them speak because I know some people need the extra encouragement to communicate becuase they might feel that what they have to say is not important. I know what it is like to not be heard, so I make sure that others do not feel that way.
2) I am an open-minded person. I liked listening to other people's points of view even if they are not similar to mine. This allows me to understand where others are coming from and allows me to start thinking of new perspectives in the future.
3) I enjoy finding the answers in situations that I may not be familiar with. I am the type of person to ask many questions when given a new task because I want to make sure I know what I am doing and make sure I am doing it right. I also like to ask questions about things in general that I do not know or understand. I admit that I do not know everything, so when I hear others discussing things I might not be familiar with I make sure to ask questions because I like to keep up to date on knowledge.
4) I am an adaptable person. When I put in situations that I am not familiar I tend to be a bit anxious at first, but then I encourage myself to understand what position I am and make sure that I am open to the new opportunity. This goes along with when I am given a new task at a job I make sure to aks the needed questions at first and then I go on from there to do the best that I can do because I understand that I am in this position for a reason and I just need to work with it.
5) I like to encourage others. I do my best when I know that others are rooting for me or when they have my back in situations, so I make sure to make sure I am that type of person to others. When in a team setting I like to encourage my team members by saying their work is good and using a positive tone when communicating with them. This will encourage them to continue doing hard work and allows me to seem welcoming enough for them to ask me if they need help with anything. I feel that it is important to encourage one another when given the opportunity.

Reflection:
When coming up with what are my human capitals I found myself struggling to find what to say. When I asked my friends to help me with this assignment they were able to answer the question quickly, which made me realize I am too hard on myself when trying to determine my positive aspects. I feel that this is because I am the type of person who does not like to talk about myself, so when put in a situation where I am supposed to say something positive about myself I seem to trip on because I do not want to be seen as self-centered, which is not the best mentality to have. I would not change anything form the list on because I personally feel that the list is true.
