23A – Your Venture’s Unfair Advantage
1) Personal Drive:
This human capital is one that can lead an idea to success. It is valuable to have people in an organization that is motivated to keep the organization going despite the initial struggle. This personal drive to make the organization successful is one that is often rare to find because some people do not put organizations as a priority, so finding a group of college individuals who are is unique and often times hard to find. There are no other resources that provide this benefit because without having actual students driven to make the USA Relief organization successful then there is no way for it to even begin.
2) Non-profit advice and connections:
This is important because having connections with non-profits that are focused on giving back to the community allows USA Relief to recieve advice on how to be successful. This is valuable becuase there is no need to try to figure everything out on your own when you have others who have done it before, so it is important to learn from their mistakes and success. This is rare because getting advice from an organization that actually is doing what we want to do is something that we will not find when we search elsewhere. This resource can also be found on the internet where we can find similar advice, but not have the face-to-face interaction.
3) College students willing to volunteer:
Having a group of college students that are willing to help build a school organization from the start is valuable becuase there are a lot of moving parts that need to be taken care of that are difficult to do with a limited amount of people. This is a rare benefit because there are a lot of college students who join organizations to do the bare minimum, so finding a group that wants to take the initiative to build USA Relief from nothing is important. There are no other resources that are beneficial.
4) Relationships with local businesses:
USA Relief focuses on collecting funds and donations to give back to communities within the United States that have been affected by a natural disaster. It is valuable to have relationships with local businesses because when times come to collect donations we are able to know which business will be willing to donate money or products. This is rare to have becuase this opens up an opportunity of constant communication with those who will benefit and fund our cause. This is hard to copy becuase asking businesses that we don't have a prior relationship will need more convincing to give rather than already having a previous relationship and them trusting our cause.
5) University of Florida:
Starting the organization on campus that has a diverse range of students and alumni allows the opportunity for more connections with potential donors. This is valuable because people are more willing to donate to an organization that is involved with a school that they have a connection with. This is rare to have because being in a big school like UF we are able to potentially team up the Alumni Association on campus and get in contact with alums to see if they would like to sponsor or donate to the organization. This is hard to copy because not many universities have an alumni group as large and diverse as UF. Other resources can't provide this resource because being on this campus allows there to be more involvement.
6) Face-to-face communication Skills:
Being a part of an organization that is asking for funding and donations it is important to be able to effectively communicate with potential donors. This is valuable because it will allow you to convince people to donate to the cause and persuade those who might be skeptical by speaking based on their reactions. This is rare because if we do not have this resource it will be difficult to recieve any donations. This is hard to copy by others because if you focus on the only communicating with potential donors through the interest it makes difficult to convince those who might skeptical. Another resource that can provide the same benefits is the internet becuase it allows us to communicate with anyone across the world, potential donors.
7) Internet:
The internet will always be one of the most valuable resources because without it there will be no way to interact with potential donors and areas that need our assistance. This is rare to have because nothing compares to the speed provided by the internet. It is hard to copy becuase the internet is one of its kind. No other resource comes close to this one.
8) On-Campus orgnaizations:
Having connections with other on-campus orgnaizations allows us to ask questions about ways to hold an event and how to go about permits that may be needed. This is valuable becuase we would not have to search or wait for a long response. This is hard to copy because without the campus connection it will be harder to collab with organizations that are already created.
9) Attention to detail:
When creating an organization from the start it is valuable to follow step by step on how to do things because one missed step can cause the cancellation of the organization on campus. This is rare to have because many people do things quickly and do not look deeper into things. This resource can be provided by others.
10) Marketing:
It is important to market the USA Relief organization well becuase we need to make sure to differentiate us from other organizations that are collecting donations from relief. This is somewhat rare because some companies do not know how to market their goods. There is no other resource that will benefit as much as good marketing.
Top recourses:
I think the top resources on this list consist of personal drive and marketing. Without having a group of driven college students that are willing to give back to a community it is almost impossible to take handle all aspects at once. The way we market the organization to the students on the UF campus it is important to catch their attention. Both resources are crucial to running a successful organization.

I was somewhat confused by your explanation and selection of strengths. For example, when you say 'personal drive', you also seem to imply that other students who will work in your organization will have this drive, but, if that is the case, how can you ensure that as a strength? Or do you mean it's just describing your own drive. I also don't really get the major difference between on-campus organizations versus non-profit connections in the way you used them in this assignment. I like how you brought together a lot of the different aspects of your business model that we've seen you develop over time- really impressive how much we've grown since the beginning.
