29A – Venture Concept No. 2

1)
Opportunity
The nature of the need is to focus on a smaller area of aid rather than attempting to collect funds for the never ended disaster in the world. This allows the donations to be of greater help rather than being spread thin. The changes in the environment creating this opportunity is the consistent natural disasters that have been occurring throughout the world. There are times when multiple disasters happen at once, so our organization will focus on a smaller scale and helping those in the United States that need assistance. The market is defined geographically by the organization existing in the United States to only aid those within the United States. Demographically the organization will internally be run by college students and funded by no demographic in particular. Customers are satisfying this need by volunteering for other organizations and donating to other causes. They are loyal to the idea of helping others, not necessarily what organization they are helping. The opportunity has the potential for being big by creating organizations in different universities, but as of now, it is not that large because it will only be at the UF campus. The "window of opportunity" will always be open because natural disaster does not stop. The USA Relief organization collects funding and donations to aid those within the United States that need once a natural disaster hits. The two types of customers are those who are wanting to volunteer or donate and those who are being aided by the organization.

Innovation:
The USA Relief organization collects funding and donations to aid those within the United States that need once a natural disaster hits. What this organization will be doing is collecting funds and donations to send to orgnaizations in affected areas to distribute properly. Members of the organization will seek donors to fund the cause and communicate with local and regional businesses to establish relationships, so they are willing to donate when the need becomes apparent. This organization works by be run by college students who will market the importance of the organization to collect donations. The organization will make money by charging a small fee of about 2 to 5 percent of donations to fund materials like marketing content and merchandise to brand the organization. It will not necessarily sell anything, but collect donations and funds to give away. Along with donors of the actual cause, the USA Relief will also focus on gaining sponsors on both a local and national level to fund the internal needs.

Venture Concept:
The USA Relief will solve the opportunity I stated because it will focus on a smaller scale of the world that is affected by natural disasters, which allows the money and goods to be collected to be more impactful rather than spread thin. There are many organizations that focus solely on one cause and not many college organizations focus on helping those affected by natural disasters. Have an organization the focuses on getting local and regional donors to agree to help a cause is helpful becuase at times these businesses find it difficult to give back to the community in a way and this organization will allow them help on a larger scale. I think that donors and volunteers will support this organization becuase it focuses on assisting Americans and many are interested in helping their country more than others. It will be hard for them to which if they are already dedicated to one organization already and they aren't able to donate or volunteer with another. In this industry, there are really no competitors because any donations are needed. Possible weaknesses is a lack of structure and consistency in constant communication with potential donors.

Secret Sauce:
Something that sets me apart from competitors is my passion for giving back and my personal connection with being affected by natural disasters in this nation. I have always loved volunteering so being able to create an organization is giving back while helping a cause that has affected me before will give me the drive to make this organization successful.

What's next?
The next opportunity I want to take advantage of is collaborating with other on-campus organizations to fundraise together for certain events. This allows us to create a network and we are able to have organizations that might be willing to help us when we are fundraising or collecting donations.

What's next for me?
In 5 years I want this organization to be a vital part of the campus culture and that is recognized by many alumni. This will allow there to be a possibility of creating organizations on other campuses across the nation. In the next decade, I will possibly like to open my own beach bar. This class has been able to change the way I look at this possibility and has allowed me to change my mindset on how to go about this plan.

2) The only feedback I got on my last venture was to change the way I wrote the opportunity section. They suggested explaining more of the reasoning behind the organization and then introducing it. This way the idea is supported by some rational rather than just stating a solution without support.

3) I was happy with how I wrote my first venture, but I followed my classmates' suggestions about editing the opportunity section. I kept the information the same but rearranged the way I said some things to provide the organization reasoning toward the beginning.
